Interlaw Leadership Mr. Brink advises on commercial paper issues, syndicated loans, securitizations, derivatives and participants in the securities lending industry. He led the firm's team in advising arrangers, lead managers or issuers in connection with several recent corporate domestic medium term note programmes, as well as listed bond issues by several prostates, water utilities, Government controlled companies and Metropolitan Municipalities. He is an extraordinary professor of mercantile law at the University of South Africa and a guest lecturer at the MBA Graduate Programme of the Wits Business School in Johannesburg. Mr. Brink has been listed as one of South Africa's top lawyers in both the Banking & Finance and Corporate/Mergers & Acquisitions categories by Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers and The International Who's Who of Banking Lawyers as well as The International Who's Who of Mergers & Acquisition Lawyers for a number of years.
The breadth and depth of his experience with very high-end transactions allows him to bring a sophisticated and holistic perspective to his clients’ business challenges, in rapid order. He represents a wide variety of corporate and individual clients from throughout the United States that do business in several foreign countries. He has structured both the contractual and tax aspects of complex, multi-company distribution arrangements for American exporters, negotiated major tenant leases, devised and implemented significant asset restructurings for real estate clients, and integrated his clients’ business planning and estate planning. He is fluent in several languages. In 2005 Mr. Biederman was awarded the network’s highest honor, Interlawyer of the Year.
He joined enwc following a 1986/1987 clerkship. He is a member of the Vienna Bar Association, German-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic, the Czech Republic Bar Association, and the Austrian Business Club of Budapest. He is fluent in German and English.
Dario Cardenas, Board Member Dr. Darío Cárdenas is an experienced M&A, Finance and Corporate lawyer with an international practice representing clients mainly from Europe, North, Latin America and Japan, as well as Colombian clients in doing business abroad. He was Honorary Consul of Australia with jurisdiction throughout Colombia for five years and is currently Interlaw Vice Chair, Latin America.
Jack Cullen is the former managing partner of Foster Pepper (Seattle) and was unanimously selected for the Board of Directors in 2005. An international insolvency attorney, he represents the entire range of participants in creditor / debtor law. He has represented both creditors and debtors in reorganizations, as well as trustees, creditor and bondholder committees, and buyers of assets in bankruptcy cases. Admitted to practice in Washington State as well as three U.S. District Courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. Tax Court, he holds degrees from the University of Puget Sound and Western Washington State University. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association and noted by Chambers, Best Lawyers in America and Washington Law & Politics magazine as a top attorney in his field. Ms. Lam frequently advises on selection and suitability of trade marks for use and registration, proper use of trade marks, opposition and rectification proceedings; drafting and registering trade mark license and user agreements and assignment of trade mark rights. Over the years of practice, Lai has handled large trade mark portfolios for clients regionally and internationally, in both private and public sectors and for multinational companies in various fields including entertainment, telecommunication, construction, tobacco, food and beverage, and has acted for leading international companies operating in fashion and luxury goods. She is a member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association and the Licensing Executives Society of China in Hong Kong Chapter. She is a graduate of Liverpool (John Moores) University, England LLB (Hons), 1985 and Chester College of Law, Chester, England - Law Society Finals, 1985 – 1986. Ms. Lam is fluent in English and Cantonese. ANDREAS C. RICHTER Andreas Richter has been a partner of Blumenthal Richter & Sumet since 1996 and has been managing partner since 1999. He works on a broad range of foreign investment and development projects in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Andreas has extensive experience in advising SMEs and multi-national companies and knows their different risk profiles and commercial needs. Andreas has worked both as a team member and a team leader on the preparation, negotiation and implementation of numerous projects in the region, including joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters. Andreas represents clients in complex investment and commercial transactions and regularly provides specialist advice to leading European and Japanese law firms. His experience in Thailand includes representation of clients in the automotive, hospitality and financial services sector, as well as industrial manufacturing, intellectual property, chemical products and construction. Andreas is a German national. He is fluent in German, English and speaks conversational Thai. Andreas obtained his law degree from the University of Hamburg and is a member of the Hamburg Bar Association and the Inter Pacific Bar Association.
Michael Siebold, Board Member Michael Siebold is the founder and managing partner of Arnecke Siebold (Frankfurt) and was admitted to the bar in 1987. He is the founding co-chair of Interlaw’s Europe/Middle East/Africa Real Estate Special Business Team and was appointed to the Interlaw Board of Directors in December 2006. He studied at Ruhruniversität Bochum, L-M-U München, London School of Economics, London, the University of Toronto, Toronto (LL.M. 1986: Postemployment Restraint Agreements, Master Thesis, Toronto, 1987), Madison; and articled at courts in Munich and Landshut. He writes and lectures in English and German, and is an authority in legal project management, financing, and investment in Germany as well as mergers and acquisitions, sports law and stadium management. Strongly linked to North America's business world for many years, Michael Siebold is in charge of several national and international mandates and projects in the cultural and entertainment sector particularly in the sports area, the innovative building of arenas, and the international real property market.
Bill practises in the area of corporate law, serving the Canadian legal needs of foreign-controlled multinational clients. He has been involved in numerous public and private cross-border transactions providing structural, corporate and general advice with respect to major and other international transactions. Bill acts as a director and officer for a number of Canadian subsidiaries of foreign multinationals. He has represented foreign-based clients in connection with highly sensitive matters under the former Foreign Investment Review Act (Canada), the current Investment Canada Act and in connection with other matters involving foreign direct investment in Canada. Bill assists foreign-based clients with merger and other competition law matters arising under the Competition Act (Canada). He advises foreign multinationals and their Canadian subsidiaries in connection with corporate reorganization and general corporate matters. Bill also advises foreign arbitrageurs in connection with timing and other risk issues arising in tender offers and takeover bids involving Canadian corporations.
