Jerry Biederman, managing partner of Neal Gerber Eisenberg LLP of Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A., chairs the board of directors of Interlaw. He was elected for the top post at the 2009 Annual General Meeting in Frankfurt and will serve in that position through 2012. He has been an active member of the board of directors since 2006, most recently responsible for both the BusDev Board Portfolio and for chairing the committee to draft the new strategic plan for Interlaw. He won the “Interlawyer of the Year” award in 2005, Interlaw’s top individual member honor. Mr. Biederman operates a diverse international practice in his firm’s Commercial Leasing, Corporate & Securities, Private Wealth Services and Real Estate Practice Groups. A graduate of Stanford University and the University of Chicago, he is fluent in several languages and represents a wide variety of corporate and individual clients from throughout the U.S. that do business in several foreign countries.

Johan Brink is immediate past chair of Interlaw and is credited with reorganizing the Board and Secretariat to Portfolio Governance. He founded, in 1993, the law firm of Brink Cohen Le Roux Inc. in Johannesburg and represents major listed companies in takeovers, mergers, acquisitions and group reorganizations and acts for multinationals in structuring their South African operations and represents them on local board of directors.
Mr. Brink advises on commercial paper issues, syndicated loans, securitizations, derivatives and participants in the securities lending industry. He led the firm's team in advising arrangers, lead managers or issuers in connection with several recent corporate domestic medium term note programmes, as well as listed bond issues by several prostates, water utilities, Government controlled companies and Metropolitan Municipalities.

Dr. Cancola has practiced in Austria since 1993, and was admitted to the international bar for the Czech Republic in 1997. He is an M & A attorney with expertise in joint ventures, corporate law, Czech law, and Hungarian law.

Jack Cullen is the former managing partner of Foster Pepper (Seattle) and was unanimously selected for the Board of Directors in 2005. An international insolvency attorney, he represents the entire range of participants in creditor / debtor law. He has represented both creditors and debtors in reorganizations, as well as trustees, creditor and bondholder committees, and buyers of assets in bankruptcy cases. Admitted to practice in Washington State as well as three U.S. District Courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. Tax Court, he holds degrees from the University of Puget Sound and Western Washington State University. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association and noted by Chambers, Best Lawyers in America and Washington Law & Politics magazine as a top attorney in his field.
