Akerman's Neisen Kasdin Elected Trustee of the Urban Land Institute: Will Chair the 2008 ULI Fall Meeting and Urban Land Expo in Miami Beach in October

Akerman Senterfitt Shareholder Neisen O. Kasdin has been elected Trustee of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the preeminent, multidisciplinary real estate organization created to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide. ULI facilitates the open exchange of ideas, information and experience among local, national and international industry leaders and policy makers dedicated to creating better places. Its 40,000 members represent the entire spectrum of land use and real estate development disciplines, working in private enterprise and public service. Kasdin will also Chair the 2008 ULI Fall Meeting and Urban Land Expo taking place in Miami Beach, October 27-30, 2008.
At Akerman, Kasdin heads the firm's national Land Use Practice Group, which combines deep experience in Florida with national capabilities, and includes areas such as environmental permitting, economic development incentives, and public-private work. Kasdin was instrumental in leading the revitalization of Miami Beach's South Beach through his work as chair of the Miami Beach Community Development Corporation, Miami Beach City Commissioner, and Mayor of Miami Beach. His extensive experience includes several significant public/private projects, urban development and neighborhood revitalization.

I have also been able to share my knowledge of urban revitalization and land use experience with my fellow members."
Kasdin is the Past Chair of ULI's Southeast Florida/Caribbean District Council, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Miami Downtown Development Authority, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, and the South Florida Regional Business Alliance. He has also served as Chair of the Beacon Council, Miami-Dade County's economic development partnership.
